“There are three things to aim at in public speaking: first, to get into your subject, then to get your subject into yourself, and lastly, to get your subject into the heart of your audience.” – Alexander Gregg

10 STEPS TO SUCCESS

THE SECRET TO IMPROMPTU SPEAKING

POWERCHARGE YOUR PROGRESS
The Toastmasters 10 step training program has an awesome record of success: It is easily the most successful public speaking training program in the world.
The program steps you through the various skills you need to prepare a well-structured presentation and present it with aplomb. And just as importantly it teaches you what not to put in your presentations.
Learning to speak without notice is like learning to ride a bike; it might seem difficult at first but with the right training you will soon be able to speak fluently with ease.
The secret is in reprogramming your brain to think ahead while speaking. You will soon develop the skill of speaking about one thing while thinking about another: Everybody picks up this skill with some practice.
If you want to advance your skills rapidly you have the option of having your presentations videoed for self evaluation at home.
This is an amazing learning tool because you see yourself as others see you: It means you can correct any little problems straight away, often before any feedback has pointed them out.But it can be a little confronting, to see yourself on video for the first time, but for those who want to build their skills rapidly it is absolutely the fastest way.

WHAT OUR MEMBERS HAVE TO SAY
____________
“The camaraderie and support of this group’s members is phenomenal. I have discovered several strengths and weaknesses in my speaking skills, am gaining leadership skills, and have made a lot of new friends! I would (and have) emphatically encouraged people to attend!”
“I had been out of Toastmasters four years before [Founding President] Troy [Anderson] called about the new Colville Toastmasters being formed. Since joining, I have formed new friendships, grown in confidence, and rediscovered a love of entertaining an audience.”
